Adani Power’s Bankruptcy Bet on stressed assets Pays Off

ADANIPOWER
has emerged as India’s most prolific buyer of distressed power assets under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), completing eight acquisitions including the recent approval to acquire GVK Energy. Roughly one‑third of its 18.3GW operational capacity now stems from such deals. Capital efficiency: By purchasing stranded plants at steep discounts compared to greenfield costs, Adani Power has added 7.8GW capacity at a fraction of the expense. Analysts note costs as low as ₹21–28 per watt for certain acquisitions, significantly undercutting peers like Torrent Power and JSW Energy. Successful turnarounds: Post‑acquisition, Adani Power has revitalized assets into cash‑generating units. For example, Essar Power MP Ltd (renamed Mahan Energen) grew EBITDA from ₹550 crore in FY21 to ₹1,600 crore in FY26, cumulatively generating over ₹6,300 crore against a ₹2,500‑crore purchase price. Expansion roadmap: The company plans to add 23.7GW of new capacity, with 10.9GW at acquired sites, targeting a total of 42GW by FY32. This positions Adani Power closer to NTPC’s 61GW capacity, supported by advance orders for turbines and boilers to mitigate equipment shortages. Disciplined growth philosophy: Management emphasizes that acquisitions are guided by asset quality, operational potential, and strategic fit. The company highlights its expertise in project execution, logistics, and cost optimization as key to unlocking value and supporting India’s energy security. Financial strength: Adani Power remains the most profitable entity in the conglomerate, reporting ₹12,971 crore net profit in FY26. Its stock has surged nearly 40% since January, with a market capitalization of ₹4 trillion, reflecting investor confidence in its expansion model.

TORRENT POWER COMMISSIONS 322 MWp DECENTRALISED

TORRENT POWER COMMISSIONS 322 MWp DECENTRALISED SOLAR PROJECTS IN MAHARASHTRA

TORNTPOWER
Torrent Power’s wholly owned subsidiary, Torrent Green Energy, has commissioned 322 MWp of ground-mounted solar projects across Nashik district, Maharashtra. The projects have been developed across 50 locations spanning 14 talukas under the MSKVY 2.0 / PM-KUSUM feeder solarisation programme. The entire power generated from these projects will be supplied to MSEDCL under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement, providing long-term contracted revenue visibility for the company. The projects are aimed at supplying daytime renewable power to agricultural feeders while also helping reduce transmission and distribution losses in the region. The commissioning further strengthens Torrent Power’s renewable energy portfolio and supports the company’s presence in India’s growing solar power generation and feeder solarisation market. Impact: Positive — The commissioning of 322 MWp of solar capacity expands Torrent Power’s renewable energy portfolio and provides long-term contracted revenue visibility through the 25-year PPA with MSEDCL.

Torrent Power Launches 322 MWp Solar Projects in Nashik

TORNTPOWER
's wholly-owned subsidiary, Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, has commissioned 322 MWp of ground-mounted decentralized solar power projects in Nashik, Maharashtra. Developed under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 framework, the power will be supplied to MSEDCL under a long-term 25-year Power Purchase Agreement. The commissioning of these decentralized solar projects underlines Torrent Power's ability to execute complex, multi-site infrastructure projects. By integrating solar energy at the feeder level, Torrent is addressing rural power challenges while building a highly predictable cash-flow profile through long-term utility-backed PPAs. Although near-term profits in Q1 FY27 were weighed down by higher borrowing costs and thermal asset pressures, the continuous commissioning of renewable assets like the Nashik solar portfolio is crucial for long-term margin improvement and portfolio decarbonization. Torrent Power's multi-site solar execution in Nashik marks a significant milestone in agricultural energy transition. Despite near-term earnings headwinds from legacy and acquired thermal integrations, the expansion of its high-visibility, long-contract renewable portfolio positions Torrent as a key beneficiary of India's utility-scale clean energy transition. MORNING MARKET EDGE-----> Nifty Reverses, FIIs Go Long in Stock Futures & Crude Stays High — Is 24,500 Next?

Indian markets enter today's session with a cautiously bullish setup. Crude Oil remains at elevated levels, while US markets closed broadly flat. More importantly, Nifty and Bank Nifty delivered a strong reversal in yesterday's session, bringing buyers back after recent ***** markets enter today's session with a cautiously bullish setup. ------>Yesterday's Reversal Changes the Setup Nifty and Bank Nifty both witnessed a meaningful reversal in yesterday's session. This suggests that lower levels are attracting buying interest. . Therefore, any meaningful dip could become a buying opportunity ##LEVELS Nifty: 24,000–24,100 Is the Strong Buy Zone The most important support zone for today's session: 24,000–24,100 → Strong Buy Zone If Nifty remains above this area, the recent reversal structure stays intact. A successful hold could open the way towards: 24,500 → Next Major Upside Zone The market could therefore remain in a Buy on Dips mode rather than a Sell on Rise setup. ##FII-DII Data: Interesting Positioning Institutional Activity — 20 August 2026 Segment FII DII Cash Market -₹583.36 Cr +₹3,537.71 Cr Index Futures -₹362.73 Cr — Index Options -₹2,460.16 Cr — Stock Futures +₹3,243.46 Cr — Stock Options +₹185.45 Cr ::FII Stock Futures: +₹3,243 crore This indicates significant buying interest in stock futures. @@Crude Oil Remains High & ENERGY THEME IN FOCUS

ONGC
!OIL !JSWENERGY !TORNTPOWER !RELIANCE ------->Bottom Line Yesterday's reversal has changed the tone — now the market needs to prove that every dip can attract buyers. FIIs may have sold around ₹583 crore in cash, but their ₹3,243 crore buying in stock futures, combined with strong DII support, provides a more constructive signal. And with crude still elevated, Energy stocks will remain an important sector to watch. Today's strategy: Don't chase strength — watch the dips.

Torrent Power - Head and Shoulder Breakdown, Lower targets in sight.

TORNTPOWER
- has broken down from a clear Head & Shoulders structure, with the neckline around ₹1,370 now acting as resistance. The breakdown shifts the near-term bias bearish, with ₹1,290 as the immediate support and ₹1,150 as the broader downside zone. A sustained move below ₹1,290 can strengthen the bearish setup and keep the focus towards ₹1,150. Reclaiming ₹1,370 would be the first sign that the breakdown is losing momentum
