Orient Cables (India) Limited – Strengths and benefits
- Long-standing customer relationships: New customers in this industry typically go through around 6 months of facility audits and third-party testing. This process can make it harder for new suppliers to enter the market.
- Diversified, customised product range: The company makes standard networking cables as well as specialty power and optical fibre products, with products customised to customer requirements across different end-user industries.
- Market presence in a growing category: Orient Cables ranks among India’s top four networking cable players and had a 22.9% market share in FY26. It also recorded the fastest revenue CAGR of 33.45% among its peer set over FY24–26, compared with a peer average of 17.27%.
- Strategically located, innovation-focused manufacturing: Its manufacturing facilities are positioned around key demand centres, while the company continues to add products such as E-beam irradiated cables and EV charging assemblies.
Orient Cables (India) Limited – Risks and limitations
- Customer concentration: The top 10 customers made up 76.52% of its FY26 revenue, while the figure stood at 84.00% for the quarter ended June 2026, leaving the company heavily dependent on a relatively small group of customers.
- Manufacturing concentrated in one state: Two of the company’s three manufacturing facilities are in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. Any disruption affecting the region could therefore impact operations.
- No current credit rating: Orient Cables has not had an updated credit rating since FY2025. Its last rating was CRISIL B/Stable and was marked “Issuer Not Cooperating”. The rating is sub-investment-grade and is also not current, which could have a bearing on future borrowing costs.
- Declining return efficiency: RoNW declined from 37.26% in FY24 to 25.84% in FY26. This means the return generated on net worth has fallen even as the company’s revenue has increased.
Orient Cables (India) IPO Review
Orient Cables enters the IPO with strong revenue growth. However, declining margins and return ratios, high customer concentration, manufacturing concentration in Rajasthan, and an outdated sub-investment-grade credit rating remain important points to consider. At the upper price band of ₹272, the latest GMP of ₹70 suggests a 25.74% estimated gain, although GMP is unofficial and can change.
