Orchid Pharma board approves fundraising up to ₹600 Cr

ORCHPHARMA
Orchid Pharma Limited (ORCHPHARMA) has received board approval to explore fundraising of up to ₹600 crore. The proposed securities include equity shares and eligible financial instruments such as fully or partly convertible debentures. Potential routes under consideration include Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), private placement, public issue, preferential issue, or a combination thereof. The fundraising remains subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals where applicable. Issue structure, number of securities, and the final amount are yet to be decided. The key trigger is the enabling resolution for a potential capital raise of up to ₹600 crore, which provides flexibility to fund expansion plans including the company’s ongoing projects in antibiotic intermediates. This is positive for growth visibility but remains non-binding at this stage. Peers such as Aurobindo Pharma, Laurus Labs, and Granules India may face comparison on capital-raising and API capacity expansion. Near-term prices could react positively on the growth funding narrative, though dilution concerns may limit upside until pricing details emerge. Risks include final terms being less favourable, delay in approvals, or higher-than-expected equity dilution. Competitors listed: Aurobindo Pharma, Laurus Labs, Granules India.

Aurobindo Pharma: API Growth and a $247M Acquisition

AUROPHARMA
Aurobindo Pharma (NSE : AUROPHARMA) manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished formulations. It exports to more than 150 countries, with around 90% of revenue from international markets. The US and Europe are its largest geographies. What happened: In Q1FY27, Aurobindo reported consolidated revenue of Rs 9,150 crore. API revenue was Rs 1,049 crore, up 14.6% year on year but down 13.1% sequentially. Beta-lactam revenue rose 25.7% YoY to Rs 800 crore while non-beta-lactam fell 10.6% to Rs 250 crore. The company received 10 US FDA final approvals in the quarter, including canagliflozin and pirfenidone. Aurobindo also made a US$247 million acquisition payment for Lannett and completed a US$85 million buyback. Why it matters: APIs contributed 11.5% of consolidated revenue, with growth concentrated in beta-lactam. The Lannett deal adds US market presence in generics. As of 30 June 2026, net cash was US$42 million and free cash flow US$98 million. Through AuroSource, Aurobindo offers CDMO services across 200+ commercialised products and 1,000+ regulatory filings. The stock has returned 49% over one year at a P/E of 25.52. What I am watching: Non-beta-lactam API revenue fell 10.6% YoY and 13.8% sequentially. Whether Lannett integration delivers meaningful revenue in the US is the key question over the next few quarters. AuroSource’s CDMO ambitions remain early stage; converting its filing base into commercial contracts will take time. My stance: Beta-lactam momentum is real and the US pipeline is active. But Lannett adds integration complexity, non-beta-lactam APIs are under pressure, and US$98 million in free cash looks thin relative to capital deployed. I do not hold a position in Aurobindo Pharma at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.

Aurobindo Pharma holds firm as momentum cools

AUROPHARMA
closed at ₹1,706.90 after recovering from an intraday low of ₹1,681. The candle reflects demand on dips and keeps the broader rising sequence intact. Since March, price has consistently made higher peaks and higher troughs, and the stock remains above both of its key moving averages. This is a different setup from a breakdown: the trend is positive, but it is now pausing near a recent high. The 20-day average at ₹1,684 is the first dynamic support, while the rising 55-day average near ₹1,642 provides a stronger base. MACD is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, so upside momentum has cooled even though price has not yet broken the trend. That calls for patience rather than chasing strength near the top of the range. ₹1,684 is the first level to defend; below that, ₹1,642 becomes important. A move above ₹1,715–₹1,730 can revive the advance and put the recent high zone back in focus. US generics performance, product approvals and currency movement remain key drivers for the pharma business.

Aurobindo Pharma gets USFDA approval for Perampanel

Aurobindo Pharma Limited

AUROPHARMA
has received final USFDA approval to manufacture and market Perampanel tablets in six strengths ranging from 2 mg to 12 mg. The product will be manufactured at Unit-IV of APL Healthcare, a wholly owned subsidiary, and is scheduled for launch in Q3 FY27. Aurobindo now has 599 USFDA ANDA approvals, including 574 final approvals and 25 tentative approvals. Perampanel is used for certain forms of epilepsy. The approval adds another product to Aurobindo’s US portfolio, while commercial contribution will depend on the launch and subsequent market uptake. The estimated US market size for the product was about $67 million for the 12 months ended August 2026, according to IQVIA data cited in industry reports. What I’m watching: Q3 FY27 launch execution, pricing and the initial contribution from the product. Stance: Tracking the commercial opportunity following regulatory approval. Disclosure: This post is for educational purposes only and is not investment advice or a buy/sell recommendation. Disclose any holding or interest before publishing.

Aurobindo Pharma gets USFDA nod for Perampanel

Aurobindo Pharma has received final USFDA approval to manufacture and market Perampanel Tablets in 2 mg, 4 mg, 6 mg, 8 mg, 10 mg and 12 mg strengths. Key highlights: - Estimated market size: $67 million for the 12 months ended August 2026. - Launch planned for Q3 FY27. - Manufacturing will be undertaken at Unit-IV of APL Healthcare, a wholly owned subsidiary. - Aurobindo Pharma now has 599 USFDA ANDA approvals, comprising 574 final and 25 tentative approvals. - Perampanel is indicated for the treatment of certain seizure disorders associated with epilepsy. Why it matters The approval expands Aurobindo Pharma's US generic portfolio and gives the company access to a market estimated at $67 million. The eventual revenue contribution will depend on launch timing, pricing, competition and market share. What to watch next Investors should track the Q3 FY27 launch, product uptake, pricing, competitive intensity and its contribution to US revenues. Analyst's view: The USFDA approval is a positive business development, while the actual earnings impact will depend on successful commercialisation and market penetration. Learning outcome: Investors should assess a pharma approval by considering market size, launch timeline, competition and potential market share rather than treating regulatory approval alone as an earnings estimate.
