Mastek Ltd – Company Fundalamental Analysis

MASTEK
Mastek Ltd is a global digital engineering and cloud transformation company serving government, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and financial-services clients, with a particularly strong presence in the UK and North America. Its capabilities span cloud modernization, Oracle, Salesforce, data, automation and increasingly artificial intelligence. The company's “Lead with AI” strategy is gaining traction, with around 45% of new order bookings in Q1 FY27 coming from AI-related deals. Financially, Mastek continues to show healthy growth and a strong balance sheet. Q1 FY27 revenue reached approximately ₹985 crore, up 5% sequentially, while net profit was around ₹106 crore. The 12-month order backlog increased 25% year-on-year in rupee terms to ₹2,935 crore, providing good revenue visibility. EBITDA margin, however, declined sequentially to 15.4%, partly because of delayed collections in the Middle East. The company had ₹945 crore of cash and investments at the end of June 2026, while debt-to-equity is only around 0.15. Looking ahead, Mastek's biggest opportunity is converting its growing AI capabilities and order backlog into sustained double-digit growth. Strong demand from UK healthcare and public-sector clients, increasing AI-led engagements and expansion in North America provide multiple growth drivers. However, investors should monitor margin sustainability, Middle East geopolitical exposure, client concentration and the company's ability to maintain order-book growth as the current valuation already reflects some recovery expectations. Overall, Mastek combines improving growth, a strong balance sheet, healthy cash generation and a relatively reasonable valuation. The key investment trigger is whether AI-led demand can accelerate revenue growth while keeping margins near or above 15%. If that happens, the current valuation could offer meaningful upside; if growth remains only mid-single digit, the re-rating potential would be much more limited.

Mastek Emerges as a Strong AI-Led IT Play

MASTEK
is positioning itself as a focused AI-led digital transformation player within the mid-cap IT space, with its Lead with AI strategy increasingly translating into actual order wins. Q1 FY27 revenue rose 5% QoQ to ₹985.3 crore, while the 12-month order backlog increased 25% YoY to ₹2,935 crore, providing improving revenue visibility. More importantly, the company secured 40+ AI-led deals during the quarter, with roughly 45% of new order bookings coming from AI deals. Its Data, Automation and AI business has also expanded meaningfully, while strong exposure to healthcare, government, financial services and enterprise transformation gives Mastek several structural growth opportunities. Cash and investments stood at about ₹945 crore, strengthening the balance sheet. The key risk remains that overall revenue growth is still moderate and EBITDA margin slipped to 15.4% in Q1, while the Middle East business remains affected by geopolitical uncertainty. Nevertheless, accelerating AI adoption, rising order visibility and improving productivity make Mastek an interesting AI-focused IT play. Technically, Mastek appears to be attempting a meaningful recovery after a prolonged corrective phase from the ₹3,000–₹3,400 region. The chart shows the stock finding repeated support around ₹1,450–₹1,500, forming a broad base from which the latest recovery has emerged. Price has now moved back above ₹1,700, indicating improving demand and a potential change in the intermediate trend.
