Impact on the stock market
Sectoral gainers: Nifty Realty led with a 2.7% gain, building on its strong run this week, followed by Nifty FMCG at 2.3%. Easing oil prices help consumer goods companies, because cheaper crude lowers their packaging and transport costs.
Sectoral losers: Nifty Auto was the only notable decliner, slipping 0.24%, as investors took some profits after this week’s mixed results from carmakers and two-wheeler companies.

Market aftermath: Impact on stocks
Reliance Industries Q2 Preview: Refining to Drive Profit Growth on 30 October
Reliance Industries reports its September-quarter results on Friday, 30 October, after market hours, a few days after its telecom arm, Jio Platforms, listed on the stock exchanges. Brokerages expect revenue to grow 22-30% year-on-year, operating profit to rise 11-15%, and net profit to increase 15-30%. Kotak Institutional Equities has the highest estimate, with profit up 30% to ₹23,621.7 crore. Elara Capital is more cautious, expecting profit of ₹21,189 crore, up 16.7%, and operating profit of ₹50,809 crore.
The oil-to-chemicals business is expected to drive the growth. Elara estimates Reliance earned about $25 on every barrel of crude it refined, compared with about $11 a year ago, and Kotak expects operating profit in this business to jump 47%. Jio should provide steady growth: Motilal Oswal expects revenue to rise 10.2% to ₹35,100 crore and average revenue per user to reach ₹218. Retail is the weak spot. Revenue is expected to grow only 7% to ₹84,800 crore, and profit could fall 15% to ₹3,000 crore because of the cost of expanding quick deliveries and the timing of the festive season. The board will also consider raising funds through debentures, which are a form of borrowing.
OnEMI Technology Q2: Profit Doubles and Shares Rise 5%
OnEMI Technology Solutions, the parent company of lending app Kissht, reported net profit of ₹125.12 crore, double the ₹62.4 crore it earned a year ago. Revenue rose 45% to ₹731.81 crore, and its loan book grew 68% to ₹9,317 crore. Loan quality also improved: bad loans fell to 2.18% of the book, down 0.75 percentage points from a year ago, and after setting aside money for losses, net bad loans were just 0.34%. The shares rose as much as 5% to ₹337.35 and were trading at ₹323 at 1.40 pm.
The company’s outlook for this year is ambitious. It expects its loan book to grow by more than 60%, losses on loans to fall by more than 15%, bad loans to stay below 2.25%, and a return on shareholders’ equity above 20%. The stock listed in May and is now about 90% above its issue price of ₹171, though it has fallen more than 10% from its record high of ₹388. Prithvi Finmart’s Harish Jujarey sees ₹300 as key support and ₹340 as the next resistance, with room to rise to ₹360-380 if the stock moves above it.
eClerx Services Q2: Revenue Grows 18% but Shares Fall 13%
eClerx Services fell as much as 12.6% to ₹1,630 and was trading 9.75% lower at ₹1,681 at 12.52 pm, on a day when the Nifty was up. Revenue rose 18.3% to ₹1,188.7 crore from ₹1,004.9 crore, but consolidated net profit slipped 1.5% to ₹180.4 crore from ₹183.2 crore. Investors focused on that gap: revenue grew strongly, but profit did not keep up, which suggests costs are rising faster than sales.
The rest of the numbers were better. Profit rose 9.8% from the June quarter’s ₹164.3 crore, and for the first half of the year revenue grew 20.3% to ₹2,382.9 crore while profit rose 6.1% to ₹344.7 crore. Earnings per share edged up to ₹19.63 from ₹19.50 even though total profit fell, which means the company now has fewer shares outstanding. Globe Capital’s Vipin Kumar said the stock has fallen below a range it had held for three and a half months, and he sees the next support at ₹1,450-1,500. He advised traders to wait for the price to stabilise before buying.
Crude Oil: Brent Eases to $114 as US Seeks to Revive Iran Talks
At 10.03 am, December Brent futures were at $114.19, down 0.98%, and WTI was at $101.32, down 1.42%. On the MCX, November crude traded at ₹9,658, down 1.43% from ₹9,798, and natural gas fell 0.78% to ₹290.80.
The decline followed a Wall Street Journal report that US Vice President JD Vance has written to Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei to restart peace negotiations. President Trump told Axios that talks are taking place through mediators but said the US needs to “finish the job” through a deal or another way. Iran’s foreign minister said Iran is giving diplomacy a chance and is in close contact with mediators about its 7-Day Plan. Supply is still tight, though: US crude stockpiles fell 1.9 million barrels to 410.6 million, 4% below the five-year average. Brent at $114 is lower than last week’s peak, but it remains very high for India.
Conclusion
Thursday was the market’s best session in a while. The Sensex gained 905 points and the Nifty rose more than 1% after a weak start, with realty and FMCG leading and only autos slipping. Company results again produced very different reactions. OnEMI rose because both its profit and loan quality improved, while eClerx fell sharply because its profit didn’t grow along with its revenue. The next big event is Reliance’s results on Friday evening, where brokerages expect strong refining profits and weaker retail numbers. With crude easing on talk of US-Iran negotiations and the US mid-term elections next week, oil remains the main factor to watch.
