PharmEasy Parent Narrows Q1 Loss as Revenue Grows 10% YoY

THYROCARE
PharmEasy parent API Holdings has reported a significant improvement in its Q1FY27 performance, with its net loss narrowing to ₹29.6 crore from ₹145.4 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue, meanwhile, increased 10% YoY to ₹1,754 crore. What stands out to me is that the improvement is not coming from revenue growth alone. The company has been tightening costs and focusing on debt reduction. EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹39.3 crore, compared with an EBITDA loss of ₹12.8 crore a year ago. The balance sheet improvement is another important development. API Holdings said it had repaid ₹1,050 crore of outstanding debt after years of pressure on its finances following the acquisition of diagnostics chain Thyrocare. PharmEasy’s revenue grew 10% to ₹348 crore, while EBITDA loss narrowed sharply to ₹17 crore from ₹21 crore last year. The B2B business also reported 8% YoY revenue growth to ₹1,005.6 crore. In my view, narrowing losses along with positive EBITDA and debt reduction is a meaningful improvement. However, I would still focus on whether the company can sustain this progress over the next few quarters rather than judging the turnaround from one quarter alone.

Technical Analysis Thyrocare Technologies

The stock

THYROCARE
is showing a strong bullish trend on the weekly chart. The stock has formed a clear higher-high and higher-low structure and has recently broken above its previous ₹520–550 resistance zone with strong momentum. It is currently trading around ₹624 close to the recent high indicating strong buying interest. Support & Resistance immediate support is around ₹580–560 while a stronger support zone lies near ₹520–500. On the upside, ₹640–650 is the immediate resistance zone. A sustained weekly close above ₹650 can open the way towards ₹680–700. Short-Term Outlook: The trend remains bullish but the recent sharp rally makes the stock slightly extended so chasing at current levels carries risk. Fresh buyers can look for a pullback towards ₹580–560 or a strong breakout above ₹650. Existing holders can continue to hold with a trailing stop-loss around ₹550. A weekly close below ₹520 would weaken the current bullish structure.

Thyrocare Shares Fall 8% After Promoter Sells 10% Stake

THYROCARE
shares fell nearly 8% after promoter Docon Technologies sold around 10% of the company's paid-up equity capital, triggering concerns over promoter stake reduction and near-term supply pressure. Key Details Shares Sold: 53.33 lakh shares Stake Sold: ~10% of paid-up capital Transaction Value: ₹667.69 crore Average Selling Price: ₹1,252.03 per share Promoter Holding: Reduced to 60.93% from 70.98% Docon: Continues to remain a promoter of Thyrocare. Why Did the Stock Fall? The immediate pressure is largely supply-driven. A promoter selling such a sizeable stake increases the available shares in the market and can weigh on investor sentiment, particularly when the transaction is executed at a substantial scale. However, the important point is that Docon has not exited the company. It continues to hold a majority stake of around 61%, so the transaction does not represent a change in control. There is also a broader financing context. Docon's shares in Thyrocare have been used as security for borrowings at the API Holdings level, with the company's filings showing the promoter stake remains pledged in connection with the refinancing arrangements.

🚨 Promoter pledging is something I always check before looking at a stock.

A few mid & smallcap stocks currently have a very high portion of promoter shares pledged. 100% of promoter holding pledged: • Afcons Infra • Bajaj Hindusthan • Indo Borax • Mphasis • Thyrocare Technologies And some others are also above 90%: • Orient Green – 99.99% • Steel Exchange – 99.95% • Jayaswal Neco – 99.87% • A2Z Infra – 99.68% • Gokaldas Exports – 96.28% • Vishnu Prakash – 95.25% • Cohance Life – 94.56% • B.L. Kashyap – 94.44% High promoter pledging doesn't automatically mean the business is bad. But it's definitely something worth checking, especially when the stock starts falling. If lenders ask for more margin, pledged shares can become a problem. Before investing, check why the shares were pledged, company debt and recent FII/DII holding changes.
