MobiKwik co-founder buys shares worth Rs 2.12 crore

MOBIKWIK
One MobiKwik Systems Limited (MOBIKWIK) co-founder and executive director Upasana Taku purchased 1.07 lakh shares through the open market, worth approximately ₹2.12 crore. The purchase was disclosed on October 1. This is an insider purchase by a co-founder and executive director, not a promoter group transaction through a preferential allotment or warrant subscription like the Zee Entertainment and Reliance examples covered earlier. An open-market purchase means Taku bought shares at the prevailing price the same way any other investor would, with her own funds, rather than through a structured deal with special terms. The distinction that matters here is who is buying and how. A co-founder still actively serving as executive director buying more shares in the open market is a more direct signal than a passive institutional stake adjustment, since this person has day-to-day visibility into the business that public shareholders do not. ₹2.12 crore is a modest sum relative to the company's market capitalisation, so I would not read this as a large capital commitment, but the fact of buying rather than holding or selling is the signal worth noting. What would change my view is whether this is an isolated purchase or part of a pattern. A single open-market buy by one insider is a data point. Repeated insider buying across multiple executives or board members over the following weeks would be a meaningfully stronger signal than this one transaction alone. My stance: a modest, genuine insider purchase worth logging, not treating as a strong buy signal on its own. Watching the company's insider trading disclosures over the next month for whether other executives or promoters follow with similar purchases. I do not hold One MobiKwik Systems Limited at the time of writing.

Zee Entertainment: Promoter Subscribes to Rs 660 Cr Warrants

ZEEL
Zee Entertainment (ZEEL) allotted 20.94 crore fully convertible warrants to promoter entity Sunbright Mauritius Investments, raising ₹659.76 crore as the initial 25% subscription money at an issue price of ₹126 per warrant. The allotment was completed on August 21, 2026, following approval from the Securities Appellate Tribunal. Worth understanding two distinct things here, since each carries its own meaning. 1. A convertible warrant isn't the same as buying shares directly. A warrant gives the holder the right to convert it into an actual equity share later, typically within 18 months under SEBI's preferential issue rules, at a price fixed today. The promoter is committing to future ownership now, without paying the full amount upfront. 2. The 25% upfront payment structure is a specific, common feature of Indian preferential warrant issues. SEBI regulations allow promoters to pay just a quarter of the total commitment initially, with the remaining 75% due when the warrants are actually converted into shares, this is why the ₹659.76 crore raised represents only the first installment of a larger total commitment. 3. Needing tribunal approval signals this wasn't a routine, uncontested process. The Securities Appellate Tribunal exists specifically to hear appeals against SEBI orders, so its involvement here suggests some prior dispute or regulatory hurdle had to be resolved before this allotment could actually proceed. The takeaway: A promoter committing to a warrant subscription is a signal of future ownership intent, but it's genuinely different from an outright share purchase, partial upfront payment, a conversion window, and in this case, a tribunal-cleared regulatory path all shape how much weight to put on this specific kind of commitment.

Zee Shares Drop Over 6% After CBI Case Against Chandra

ZEEL
Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises fell more than 6% on September 7, closing at ₹85.78, after the Central Bureau of Investigation registered a case against promoter Subhash Chandra and others over an alleged ₹1,322 crore fraud involving loans from LIC Housing Finance. The CBI filed the FIR on August 31 based on a complaint by LIC Housing Finance. The lender alleged that Chandra, along with certain borrower companies and their directors, used false and inflated net-worth certificates to secure two credit facilities in 2018. One was a ₹500 crore loan to Vasant Sagar Properties and Pan India Infraprojects; the other was a ₹480 crore facility to Digital Subscriber Management and Consultancy Services and Spirit Infrapower and Multiventures. Both were backed by Chandra’s personal guarantees. LIC Housing Finance claimed the certificates showed Chandra’s net worth at over ₹59,000 crore in 2017, far higher than the figures he later declared during personal insolvency proceedings. The agency has booked the accused for criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust. The case has added to existing pressures on the stock amid ongoing legal and financial issues linked to the promoter.
