Adani Enterprises Gains on $1 Billion Airport Funding Plan
ADANIENT
Adani Enterprises is in focus after its airport subsidiary, Adani Airport Holdings, announced plans to raise around $1 billion (₹9,825 crore) from a consortium including Temasek, BlackRock-managed funds, Alpha Wave Global and Premji Invest. The transaction values the airport business at around $18 billion before the investment.
The funds will be used to modernise and expand airport infrastructure, develop airport-city projects and strengthen passenger and non-aeronautical services. Adani Airports aims to increase its annual passenger-handling capacity from around 120 million to 200 million over the next five years.
The development provided a positive trigger for Adani Enterprises, with the stock gaining around 5% on Wednesday after the announcement. The company will retain controlling ownership of the airport business despite the stake sale.
Adani Enterprises also reported strong Q1 FY27 performance, with total income rising 50% YoY to ₹33,546 crore and EBITDA increasing 49% to ₹5,642 crore. Continued growth in airports, copper, renewables and data centres could support the company’s long-term growth outlook, while investors will monitor execution and funding requirements.

Graphite Surge Global Electrode Price Hike Sparks Rally
GRAPHITE
Graphite India shares surged as much as 18.5% to ₹870 on September 9, 2026, hitting a fresh 52-week high amid strong buying interest. The sharp rally came after global graphite electrode producer GrafTech International announced a minimum 30% increase in electrode prices, raising expectations of stronger pricing across the industry.
The development is significant for Indian graphite-electrode manufacturers because higher international prices could improve realisations and operating margins. Investors are increasingly betting that the tighter global supply-demand balance will support better profitability for companies such as Graphite India and HEG.
Graphite India's recent financial performance has also added to investor confidence. Its June-quarter profit reportedly increased 28.4%, while EBITDA margin expanded to 17.1%, providing a stronger earnings backdrop as electrode prices move higher. Trading activity has also surged, with volumes several times above normal levels.
The stock's rally comes despite a weak broader Indian market, where the Nifty 50 and Sensex were under pressure from rising crude prices and geopolitical tensions. With graphite-electrode pricing emerging as a fresh catalyst, investors will now watch whether Graphite India can sustain the momentum and convert higher industry prices into stronger earnings.

IDEA FALL AS HSBC MAINTAINS ‘REDUCE’ RATING DESPITE
IDEA
Vodafone Idea Ltd slipped in Tuesday’s trade after HSBC retained its ‘Reduce’ rating on the telecom operator, despite raising its target price to ₹8.25. The brokerage cautioned that the company’s operating cash flows may remain insufficient to meet its spectrum payment obligations, even as tariff hikes drive earnings growth.
Vodafone Idea shares were trading 0.83% lower at ₹15.47 in afternoon trade. The stock had rallied around 7.7% over the previous two sessions. Despite Tuesday’s decline, the shares remain up nearly 33% so far in 2026, significantly outperforming the Nifty 50, which has fallen around 9% during the same period. Vodafone Idea’s market capitalisation stood at approximately ₹1.68 lakh crore.
HSBC expects Vodafone Idea’s network investments to help stabilise its market share but does not anticipate these investments translating into significant market-share gains. The brokerage forecasts EBITDA to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 15% between FY26 and FY29, with the expansion driven primarily by an expected increase in telecom tariffs. However, funding requirements remain a key concern. HSBC noted that Vodafone Idea’s capital needs could extend beyond its FY29 spectrum payment obligations, with additional funding likely to be required for spectrum renewals starting in 2030.
