Axis Bank: strong credit growth keeps stock in focus

Axis Bank reported 22.7% YoY growth in gross advances to ₹13.85 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026. Total deposits also grew 20.7% YoY to ₹14.52 lakh crore, giving investors a strong first look at the bank’s Q2 operating performance. The sequential numbers are also encouraging. Gross advances increased 8.8% during the quarter, while deposits continued to expand. CASA deposits stood at ₹5.30 lakh crore, growing 10.6% YoY. However, CASA growth is still slower than overall deposit growth, so funding mix and cost of deposits will be important when the full Q2 results are announced. There is another number should not be ignored Axis Bank mobilised around $10.62 billion through FCNR(B) deposits under the RBI facility. After excluding specified advances linked to these deposits, underlying gross advance growth was around 18.8% YoY instead of the reported 22.7%. Private banking stocks were strong today, with Axis Bank among the stocks gaining after the Q2 business updates. The Nifty Private Bank index also moved higher during the session. For traders, I would watch whether Axis Bank can sustain the post-update strength rather than chasing a sharp opening move. For investors, the bigger triggers from the upcoming results will be NIM, asset quality, credit costs, CASA trends and management commentary on loan growth. My view: Positive on the operating update, but the complete Q2 results will decide whether the current optimism is justified. Disclosure: I do not hold Axis Bank shares as of this post. Gross advances climbed 22.7% YoY to ₹13.85 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026, compared with ₹11.28 lakh crore a year earlier. On a quarterly basis, advances increased 8.8% from ₹12.73 lakh crore in June 2026. Total deposits expanded 20.7% YoY to ₹14.52 lakh crore, supported by healthy growth across deposit segments. CASA deposits rose 10.6% to ₹5.30 lakh crore, while term deposits increased 27.3% to ₹9.23 lakh crore. A bullish candle forming at a trendline support zone

AXISBANK
A bullish candle forming at a trendline support zone can be an important indication of buying interest and a possible bullish reversal or continuation, particularly when the stock is already trading in an uptrend. When price approaches a rising trendline, buyers often become active around this support area, preventing the price from falling further. The formation of a strong bullish candle—such as a bullish engulfing, hammer, or large-bodied green candle—suggests that buyers have gained control after the price tested the support. The signal becomes stronger if the candle closes firmly above the trendline support, is accompanied by higher trading volume, and is followed by a move above the previous candle's high or nearby resistance. In such a situation, the trendline can continue to act as a base for an upward move, with the recent swing high or resistance zone becoming the next level to watch. However, a decisive breakdown and close below the trendline would weaken the bullish setup and indicate that the support has failed. Axis Bank advances rise 23% in Q2 for FY27

Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 Axis Bank Limited (

AXISBANK
) reported 22.7% year-on-year growth in gross advances to ₹13.85 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026. Total deposits increased 20.7% to ₹14.52 lakh crore. What happened? Gross advances increased 8.8% sequentially from ₹12.73 lakh crore in June 2026. Deposits grew 5.8% from ₹13.73 lakh crore. CASA deposits increased 10.6% year on year to ₹5.30 lakh crore, while term deposits grew 27.3% to ₹9.23 lakh crore. Axis Bank mobilised $10.62 billion of FCNR(B) deposits through the RBI's swap facility. After excluding related overseas loans, advances grew 18.8% year on year and 5.3% sequentially. Why does it matter? The headline growth shows strong balance-sheet expansion, but the FCNR(B) flows make the reported numbers less representative of underlying business momentum. CASA growth was also slower than overall deposit growth, which means the bank continues to rely more on term deposits to fund its expansion. My view The adjusted growth remains healthy, but the quality of growth is more important than the headline numbers. The bank needs to balance credit expansion with stable low-cost deposits. The large FCNR(B) mobilisation can support liquidity, but it is not the same as recurring domestic deposit mobilisation. What I am watching next I would track loan growth excluding FCNR(B)-related lending, CASA growth, cost of deposits and net interest margin. Asset quality will also be important to assess whether faster credit growth is being accompanied by disciplined underwriting. Trent Surges 10% on Strong Q2 Update; Market Opens Higher

Markets opened on a positive note today, with the Nifty50 rising 31.40 points (0.14%) to 22,592 and the Sensex up around 100-125 points, as global equities rallied despite higher bond yields. Trent was by far the standout story of the session, hitting its 10% upper circuit.

TRENT
surged 10% to ₹2,838, opening 8.5% higher and then hitting the upper circuit after its Q2 FY27 business update, standalone revenue grew 23% YoY to ₹5,788 crore, pushing the company's market cap past ₹1.5 trillion. The Zudio business crossed a major milestone. Trent's value-fashion chain opened its 1,000th store during the quarter, with 17 net Zudio additions and 10 new Westside stores, taking the total portfolio to 1,342 stores as of September 30. This is a real recovery from recent weakness. The stock had underperformed by 9-12% over the past one and three months, and remains well below its 52-week high of ₹3,399.70 (hit July 3, 2026) even after today's jump. Market breadth looked healthy elsewhere too. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap gained 0.29% and 0.65% respectively, with Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, HUL, and HCL Tech among the other major gainers on the Sensex.
