NYKAA Q2 FY27: Scaling a Consumer Beauty & Fashion Ecosystem
NYKAA
is evolving from an online beauty retailer into an integrated consumer & brand-distribution platform. Growth depends on strengthening Beauty, improving Fashion profitability & scaling newer channels
Beauty: Growth is driven by customer acquisition, premiumisation & repeat engagement. Physical retail remains strong, with like-for-like growth above 20%. Management targets 600 stores over the next few years.
Fashion: Wider assortment, international partnerships & expansion in footwear & men's categories support growth. The segment has reached EBITDA breakeven, but sustainable profitability remains a challenge
Global Store & Superstore: Nykaa is positioning itself as an India market-entry partner for international beauty brands while expanding its B2B retailer network
Nykaa Now: Quick commerce is scaling with a wider beauty assortment & faster delivery, potentially improving purchase frequency. Standalone economics remain undisclosed
Growth Plans:
Margin improvement reflects operating leverage & expense efficiency, with marketing & other operating costs declining as a share of revenue. Fulfilment remains an investment area.
Fashion profitability is a longer-term journey. Management reiterated its ambition of high-single-digit EBITDA margins by FY30 & 10%+ at steady state. This is not a near-term target; progress depends on marketing efficiency, repeat customers & operating leverage include expanding Beauty retail, scaling Nykaa Now & Superstore, onboarding global brands & improving Fashion economics
Investor Takeaway:
H1 operating cash flow was negative due to festive inventory build-up. Management expects normalisation by Q3. Inventory discipline & cash conversion remain key monitorables. Nykaa is building an integrated beauty, fashion & distribution ecosystem. Improving margins & channel expansion are encouraging, but sustainable Fashion profitability, cash flow & execution remain key tests. Valuation will ultimately determine shareholder returns

izmo: Building a Presence in Indigenous Defence Electronics
izmo Microsystems, the semiconductor subsidiary of izmo Limited (
IZMO
) has developed and qualified an indigenous Pitch Detector for military aircraft and helicopters.
What does it do?
The component senses an aircraft’s nose-up or nose-down movement (pitch) and provides correction data to its gyromagnetic compass navigation system.
The original component was imported and faced irregular overseas supply. izmo reverse-engineered it without the original design documents, redesigned the electronics and manufactured a compatible replacement at its Bengaluru facility. It has qualified to the military reliability standard MIL-PRF-38534.
How does this create value?
This development demonstrates izmo Microsystems’ ability to develop, manufacture and qualify specialised defence electronics. It could help the company pursue more import-substitution opportunities, particularly for obsolete or difficult-to-source components, while strengthening its credentials for future defence and aerospace programmes.
There is already commercial activity in this business. izmo has disclosed ongoing supplies related to RF module packaging and radar receiver module assembly. Production shipments of its 40 GHz RF QFN package also commenced in September 2026.
What about revenue impact?
izmo Microsystems reported Q1 FY27 revenue of ₹9.24 crore, compared with ₹3.73 crore in Q3 FY26. However, this is the subsidiary’s total revenue, not defence revenue.
The pitch detector announcement does not disclose an order, customer, quantity, pricing or expected revenue. Its incremental financial contribution cannot yet be quantified.
Investor takeaway: The development strengthens izmo’s defence electronics credentials and opens potential opportunities. Actual value creation will depend on procurement orders, repeat supplies, production volumes and sustained revenue growth.

₹53,866 Crore Naval Deal: GRSE Emerges as a Key Beneficiary
The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth ₹53,866.50 crore for eight Next Generation Corvettes (NGCs) for the Indian Navy, marking another major step in India's defence indigenisation drive.
The contracts have been awarded to two defence shipyards:
• Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (!GRSE ): Five corvettes.
• Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL): Three corvettes.
The warships will be indigenously designed by the Indian Navy and equipped with advanced weapons and sensor systems for anti-surface, anti-submarine and maritime security operations.
Unlike conventional patrol vessels, the next-generation corvettes are designed for multi-domain naval operations. Equipped with advanced missiles, weapons systems and sensor suites, they will operate across air, surface and sub-surface domains.
Their capabilities will strengthen India's anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, coastal defence, maritime surveillance and protection of critical trade routes.
GRSE will construct five of the eight vessels, strengthening its position in India's naval shipbuilding ecosystem.
The programme provides a long-term execution opportunity and reinforces the government's push towards domestic defence manufacturing.
The project is also expected to generate around 72 lakh person-days of employment at shipyards and 460 lakh person-days across ancillary industries and MSMEs over the next decade.
What investors should track?
The development highlights three important themes:
• Growing domestic defence manufacturing capabilities.
• Long-term order visibility for Indian shipyards.
• Opportunities across the naval defence supply chain.
However, order wins alone do not determine shareholder returns. For GRSE, execution timelines, margins, working capital and cash-flow conversion will remain critical indicators to monitor.
The next important question is how effectively the company converts its growing order book into sustainable earnings.
