Nuvoco Vistas has announced a major expansion plan in Eastern India, investing approximately ₹200 crore to add 4 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) of cement grinding capacity. This expansion will involve setting up a new mill at the Arasmeta Cement Plant, along with debottlenecking projects at the Jojobera, Panagarh, and Odisha Cement Plants, aiming to increase total capacity to 35 MMTPA by the end of FY2026-27. The expansion of 4 MMTPA in the East is planned in phases: ∼1 MMTPA in Q3 FY2025-26, ∼2 MMTPA by the end of FY2025-26, and the remaining ∼1 MMTPA in FY2026-27, which will boost the company's Eastern region capacity by over 20%. The company has completed internal projects to enhance efficiency, including a new coal unloading and clinker loading system at the Sonadih Cement Plant, which has reduced rake handling time by about 50%, and a new railway siding at the Odisha Plant to lower freight costs. Nuvoco Vistas has raised ₹600 crores through the issuance and allotment of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) via private placement on September 18, 2025. The company's subsidiary, Vadraj Cement Limited (VCL), plans to issue Compulsorily Convertible Debentures worth up to ₹1,200 crore through private placement. VCL's acquisition by Nuvoco was completed earlier in the year, boosting Nuvoco's total capacity. Nuvoco Vistas received a Show Cause Notice from CGST authorities in September 2025 regarding an alleged tax demand and penalty totaling ∼₹112.48 crore, related to alleged irregularities in cement invoicing by its Carrying and Forwarding Agents (C&FA). The company stated the demand is based on assumptions and expects it to be set aside.
