LAURUSLABS
Laurus Labs Ltd is an Indian research-driven pharmaceutical and biotechnology company engaged in manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), finished dosage formulations (FDFs) and contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) services. Its major therapeutic areas include antiretroviral medicines, oncology and cardiovascular treatments. The company is increasingly shifting towards higher-value CDMO activities, including small-molecule development, peptides and biologics. This diversification could improve margins and reduce dependence on traditional API manufacturing.
Q2 FY27 results, announced on 29 October 2026, were exceptionally strong. Consolidated revenue increased 33% year-on-year to ₹2,206 crore, while EBITDA surged 78% to ₹762 crore. EBITDA margin expanded from 26% to 34.5%, indicating significant operating leverage. Net profit increased 126% to ₹441 crore. For H1 FY27, revenue reached ₹4,233 crore (+31%), EBITDA was ₹1,406 crore (+72%) and net profit stood at ₹809 crore (+126%). CDMO was a major growth driver, with Q2 revenue increasing 75% to ₹904 crore. Affordable Medicines revenue also grew 15% to ₹1,302 crore.
At approximately ₹2,244 per share, Laurus Labs had a market capitalisation of around ₹1.21 lakh crore, a trailing P/E of approximately 111x and a price-to-book ratio of 22.9x. ROE was around 16.8%, while debt-to-equity stood at 0.48. Despite excellent earnings growth, the valuation already reflects substantial future growth expectations.
Overall Laurus Labs has demonstrated strong earnings recovery, improving margins and encouraging CDMO growth. Its long-term business prospects look promising, but the premium valuation is a major consideration. Future returns will depend on sustaining high growth and converting its capacity expansion into consistent profitability.#StockInNews#WatchOutFor#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews#EquityResearch
