Sapphire Foods India Ltd Company Analysis

SAPPHIRE
Sapphire Foods India is one of the largest franchise operators of Yum! Brands in India, operating KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants across India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Its business relies on expanding restaurant networks, improving same-store sales and increasing average customer spending through menu innovation, delivery and promotional offers. KFC remains its key growth driver, while Pizza Hut's performance and store-level profitability are important to improving overall returns. The company also has an approved amalgamation scheme with Devyani International, which could reshape the operating structure if completed. FY26 revenue from operations rose approximately 8.5% to ₹3,125 crore, but profitability remained weak because of high restaurant operating costs, depreciation and finance expenses. Q1 FY27 revenue grew 14.7% year-on-year to ₹891 crore, and the company reported a net profit of ₹14 crore against a loss of ₹1.7 crore a year earlier. In Q2 FY27, revenue increased 19.7% to ₹888 crore, while EBITDA rose 23.5% to ₹126 crore and the net loss narrowed to approximately ₹1.5 crore from ₹12.8 crore. KFC India delivered 14% same-store sales growth, while Pizza Hut India recorded 5%, indicating stronger demand and some improvement in operating leverage. At the latest available market data, Sapphire Foods had a market capitalisation of approximately ₹6,200 crore, P/B of 4.5–5.2x and debt-to-equity of around 1.0x; the trailing P/E remains unavailable because earnings are negative or close to break-even. Growth opportunities include KFC expansion, improving Pizza Hut performance, delivery-led sales and potential synergies from the Devyani merger. Overall, revenue momentum and narrowing losses are encouraging, but consistent positive net profit and stronger returns on capital are needed to establish a durable turnaround.
