ASK Automotive: Strong growth, but watch margins
ASKAUTOLTD ASK Automotive Limited reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue and profit in Q2 FY27. Consolidated revenue from operations increased 47.5% year on year to ₹1,555.16 crore, while net profit rose 27.3% to ₹101.56 crore. The headline growth looks strong, but there is another detail worth tracking. EBITDA increased 30% to ₹185 crore, while the EBITDA margin stood at 11.8%. The company explained that higher alloy prices affected the margin percentage because of their pass-through impact on revenue. An important point is that revenue growth excluding the impact of higher alloy prices and the strategic reduction in its wheel assembly business was 29.5%. This gives a better picture of the underlying growth than the headline revenue number alone. The company is also expanding its capabilities. Supplies of high-pressure die-cast alloy wheels to a leading Japanese customer began in August under a technical collaboration. Its Karoli facility is ramping up, while the new Bengaluru facility is operating at optimum utilisation. My view: ASK Automotive has delivered a healthy quarter, supported by growth in revenue and profit. However, the next few quarters should tell us whether capacity expansion and value-added products can sustain growth while improving margintrack margin movement, capacity utilisation and the contribution from new products before drawing a longer-term conclusion. Strong quarterly growth is encouraging, but valuation and execution remain equally important.
