Fincorp Ltd reported consolidated net profit of ₹374.85 crore in Q2 FY27, up 405.2% year-on-year.
Total income rose 70.1% to ₹2,624.84 crore, while assets under management (AUM) increased 55.1% to ₹74,008 crore as of September 30, 2026.
The numbers point to a significant improvement in business scale and profitability. But the more interesting question is whether this growth can be sustained without compromising asset quality.
The company’s net interest margin (NIM) improved to 9.26% from 9.10% in the previous quarter. Higher margins, growing disbursements and improving operating performance supported the quarterly result.
However, rapid loan-book expansion also brings risks. Credit costs, borrower repayment behaviour and funding expenses will become increasingly important as the portfolio grows.
Here are the key factors I would track in the coming quarters:
1. AUM growth: Can the company maintain strong growth across consumer and MSME lending?
2. Asset quality:Are overdue loans and credit costs remaining under control?
3. Margins: Can NIM remain healthy as competition and funding costs change?
4. Return ratios: Will the profit growth translate into sustainable improvement in return on assets and return on equity?
The stock gained more than 8% in early trade on October 12 following the results. After such a sharp reaction, chasing the price without confirmation may expose traders to volatility.
view: The quarterly numbers are encouraging, particularly the improvement in profitability and AUM growth. The next test is whether Poonawalla Fincorp can sustain this momentum while maintaining disciplined lending standards.
