Graphite Stocks Rally as Electrode Prices Jump Globally

Graphite India surged 19.08% intraday and closed 15.04% higher on September 9, hitting a fresh 52-week high after GrafTech raised electrode prices by 30%. Graphite stocks rallied sharply on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after US-based GrafTech International announced a 30% increase in graphite electrode prices, raising expectations of stronger realisations and improved margins for Indian manufacturers. Among the key beneficiaries, Graphite India Ltd. (NSE:

GRAPHITE
) surged as much as 19.08% intraday and closed 15.04% higher, hitting a fresh 52-week high of ₹874.35. The stock reached its highest level since December 2018. Meanwhile, HEG Ltd. (NSE: HEG) touched its 5% upper circuit during morning trade before ending the session 1.6% higher. Investor interest in HEG is also being supported by its proposed demerger. Under the restructuring plan, HEG Graphite Limited will house the graphite electrode business and is proposed to be renamed HEG Limited, operating as a separately listed pure-play graphite electrode company. The existing entity, proposed to be renamed HEG Advanced Materials Limited, will retain the advanced materials, battery energy solutions, and green power businesses. The global graphite electrode price hike has strengthened expectations of improved earnings and margin expansion for Indian graphite electrode manufacturers, keeping the sector in focus. 📌 Disclaimer: This content is for information only and not investment advice.
