Ather Energy posts Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹1.3 crore
Ather Energy Limited (NSE: ATHERENERG)
ATHERENERG
reported a standalone net profit of ₹1.3 crore in Q2 FY27. In Q2 FY26 it had a standalone net loss of ₹154 crore.
Vehicle demand more than doubled year on year, and the Hosur plant hit a peak utilization of 98%.
What happened: The profit is small in absolute terms. The swing from a ₹154 crore loss is what matters. In Q1 FY27 the company posted consolidated total income of ₹1,260 crore and positive EBITDA of ₹9 crore. Q2 continues that direction.
Why it matters: Factory and overhead costs do not rise as fast as volume. Each extra scooter sold on the same plant adds more to profit. That is operating leverage, and it is how a pure-play EV maker reaches break-even.
My view: Demand is now ahead of supply. A plant at 98% peak utilization is limited by output, not orders. The profit cushion is thin at ₹1.3 crore, so any delay in adding capacity can hurt deliveries and margins together. Capacity work is under way at Hosur and the AURIC site. I treat the AURIC ramp-up as the main swing factor. Lithium-ion cell and metal costs are the second risk. Note that this is a standalone figure, and the data gives no consolidated Q2 profit.
What I am watching : AURIC ramp-up and delivery timelines, quarterly volume growth, gross margin as input prices move, and market share against established two-wheeler makers.
