GHCL Limited Q2 FY27 net profit up 18.7% to ₹127 crore

GHCL Limited (NSE: GHCL)

GHCL
reported standalone net profit of ₹127 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up about 18.7% from ₹107 crore a year earlier. The board also approved an extra capex budget of ₹88.09 crore for FY 2026-27 on October 31, 2026. What happened: Q2 FY27 profit rose ₹20 crore year on year. Against Q1 FY27 profit of ₹191.18 crore, it fell about 33.6%. Why it matters: Profit grew while global soda ash oversupply keeps pricing under pressure. That points to cost control and steady domestic demand, not better prices. The company also reported a net cash surplus above ₹1,000 crore in Q1 FY27. Against that, ₹88.09 crore of extra capex is small. My view: The year-on-year number is the cleaner read. Q1 was unusually strong, so a sequential dip was likely. Still, a 33.6% fall from Q1 is large, and the data does not say what drove either quarter. I would not call this a clean beat. I read it as steady execution backed by a strong balance sheet. What I am watching: Soda ash realisations, import tariff changes, and energy and raw material costs. Another sequential fall at the next quarterly result would weaken my view.
