L&T Finance raises ₹800 crore via debentures at 8.57% coupon

L&T Finance Limited

LTF
has raised ₹800 crore through a private placement of 80,000 non-convertible debentures. The instruments carry a face value of ₹1 lakh each and offer a fixed annual coupon of 8.57%. This allotment marks the third debt market issuance for the lender in recent months, following a ₹500 crore issue in September 2026 and a ₹1,500 crore issuance in June 2026. The proceeds add long-term capital to fund disbursements across retail loan books without diluting equity. From a credit perspective: Securing funds at 8.57% locks in predictable liability costs. For a wholesale borrower expanding retail assets, long-term fixed borrowings limit asset-liability mismatches and protect net interest margins against yield curve shifts. Institutional demand for the paper also shows steady wholesale appetite for high-rated non-banking financial company liabilities. At the same time, debt funding does not alter near-term equity earnings trajectories on its own. While the capital provides liquidity, profitability depends entirely on deployment yields and asset quality trends across rural and urban portfolios. What I am watching : Net interest margin numbers and retail disbursement growth in the upcoming quarterly results.
