Muthoot Finance Q2 net profit rises 34.3% to ₹3,250 crore
Muthoot Finance Limited (NSE: MUTHOOTFIN)
MUTHOOTFIN
reported standalone net profit of ₹3,250 crore for Q2 FY27, up 34.3% from ₹2,420 crore a year ago. Standalone revenue rose 37.3% to ₹9,998 crore from ₹7,280 crore.
First half standalone profit after tax was ₹5,527 crore, against ₹4,391 crore in H1 FY26, a rise of about 25.9%. On a consolidated basis, Q2 net profit was ₹3,278 crore. Consolidated assets under management grew 42% year on year to ₹2.09 lakh crore at the end of September 2026.
Why it matters: Q2 growth of 34.3% is well above the 25.9% H1 rate. Backing out Q2 from the half-year figure gives Q1 FY27 standalone profit of about ₹2,277 crore. That makes Q2 roughly 43% higher quarter on quarter. Earnings are speeding up, not just holding.
My view: revenue grew faster than profit. Net profit was about 32.5% of revenue this quarter, against 33.2% a year ago. So the margin slipped slightly even as the business grew. The 42% jump in AUM is the main driver. Gold-backed lenders tend to grow faster when gold prices rise, because the same collateral supports a bigger loan. That also means the growth depends on gold staying firm. I cannot confirm from this data how much of the AUM gain came from price and how much from new customers.
What I am watching: gold price direction, monthly loan growth, cost of funds and asset quality in the retail book. A fall in gold prices would hit loan values first.
