$AXISBANK Q1 Results: Net Profit Climbs 23% to ₹7,114 Crore; NII Rises 8%, Asset Quality Strengthens
Synopsis: $AXISBANK posted a 23% year-on-year increase in Q1 FY27 standalone profit to ₹7,114 crore, supported by healthy growth in net interest income, steady operating performance, and improved asset quality. $AXISBANK nk reported a standalone net profit of ₹7,114 crore for the April-June quarter of FY27, marking a 23% year-on-year growth from ₹5,806 crore in the corresponding period last year, aided by stable business momentum and lower bad loans. Net interest income (NII), which reflects the difference between interest earned and interest paid, increased 8% YoY to ₹14,646 crore from ₹13,560 crore a year ago. The bank's net interest margin (NIM) stood at 3.46% during the quarter. Fee income advanced 7% to ₹6,156 crore, while total non-interest income came in at ₹6,735 crore. Operating profit stood at ₹11,659 crore, while core operating profit rose 10% YoY to ₹11,122 crore. The lender also reported an improvement in asset quality. Gross NPA (GNPA) declined to 1.28% as of June 30, 2026, from 1.57% a year earlier, while Net NPA eased to 0.39% from 0.45%. Gross slippages reduced to ₹5,566 crore from ₹8,200 crore in the year-ago quarter, and net credit cost fell to 0.63%. The provision coverage ratio remained steady at 70%. $AXISBANK continued to maintain a comfortable capital position, with its Basel III capital adequacy ratio at 16.67% and CET-1 ratio at 14.64% as of June 30, 2026. The bank also highlighted an additional capital buffer of around 52 basis points from provisions that are not included in regulatory capital. Ahead of the earnings announcement, $AXISBANK shares gained 1.6% to close at ₹1,328.5 on the NSE on Friday. The stock has advanced 4.3% so far in 2026, outperforming the benchmark Nifty 50.
