Shares of Eternal Ltd, the parent company of food delivery platform Zomato and quick-commerce business Blinkit, traded lower on Thursday, October 22, despite the company reporting nearly double its consolidated net profit for the July-September quarter of FY27. The profit growth was supported by strong revenue performance, although concerns over higher growth investments and an EBITDA shortfall appeared to weigh on investor sentiment. Eternal shares opened marginally lower at Rs 312, compared with the previous close of Rs 312.35. At around 10:20 am, the stock was trading 0.53% lower at Rs 310.25, as investors assessed the company’s quarterly performance following the earnings announcement released after market hours on Wednesday.
The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 125 crore for Q2 FY27, nearly doubling from Rs 65 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose sharply to Rs 24,138 crore from Rs 13,590 crore a year earlier, according to its regulatory filing with the stock exchanges. Blinkit continued to expand its quick-commerce network, adding 308 net new stores during the quarter and taking its total store count to 2,751. The company expects Blinkit’s network to exceed 3,500 stores by March 2027.
Zomato’s food delivery business also recorded healthy growth, with its net order value (NOV) increasing 21.5% year-on-year to Rs 11,445 crore. Meanwhile, Blinkit’s quick-commerce NOV surged 79.3% to Rs 20,940 crore. Blinkit reported an adjusted EBITDA profit of Rs 184 crore, marking its sixth consecutive quarter of margin improvement, according to Eternal’s filing.
