JK Cement Q2 Revenue Jumps 24% as Volumes Rise

JKCEMENT
reported Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue growth of 23.7% YoY to ₹3,733.42 crore from ₹3,019.20 crore, supported by strong cement sales volumes. Consolidated net profit increased 6.3% to ₹169.3 crore from ₹159.25 crore, indicating that profitability grew slower than revenue. Grey cement sales volumes increased 21% YoY to 5.37 million tonnes, while white cement volumes grew 13% to 0.49 million tonnes. However, total expenses rose 24.3% to ₹3,515.71 crore, reflecting continued cost pressures. The company also announced a ₹130 crore investment through its subsidiary JK Maxx Paints to establish a water-based paint manufacturing facility in Telangana with an annual capacity of 75,000 kilolitres. The investment forms part of the previously approved ₹600 crore paints business expansion plan. The new facility is expected to be commissioned within 12 months of construction commencement. From a research perspective, strong cement volume growth indicates healthy demand and improving business scale. However, slower profit growth highlights the impact of rising costs on profitability. The paints expansion could diversify the company's product portfolio, although its financial contribution will depend on capacity utilisation, distribution growth and market competition. Investors should monitor cement realisations, EBITDA per tonne, energy costs, operating margins and capital expenditure. Learning Takeaway: Strong volume and revenue growth do not always translate into equivalent profit growth. Investors should assess input costs, operating margins and returns on new investments to understand sustainable earnings potential.
