KEC
an RPG Group infrastructure EPC company, has secured orders worth ₹2,872 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), marking its largest order win in India's Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business.
The project involves constructing 765 kV high-voltage transmission lines in Gujarat to facilitate the evacuation of approximately 8.5 GW of renewable energy, strengthening India's power transmission infrastructure.
The order is significant considering KEC International reported consolidated revenue of ₹23,506 crore in FY26. The new contract represents approximately 12.2% of annual revenue, although revenue will be recognised progressively based on project execution.
The company's order book stood at approximately ₹37,697 crore at FY26-end, providing strong revenue visibility. Earlier in October, KEC had also secured orders worth ₹1,030 crore across its T&D, renewables and cables businesses.
From a research perspective, this major order strengthens KEC's position in high-voltage transmission infrastructure and highlights growing investment in India's renewable energy transmission network.
However, large EPC contracts involve execution risks, working capital requirements and potential cost overruns. Profitability will depend on project margins, timely execution and payment collections.
Investors should monitor order book growth, EBITDA margins, debt levels, working capital cycles and operating cash flow generation.
Learning Takeaway: A large order improves future revenue visibility but does not guarantee immediate profitability. Investors should evaluate order book execution, project margins and cash flow conversion to assess sustainable earnings growth.
