Morepen Labs Q2 Profit Rises 117%, Revenue Up 81%

MOREPENLAB
reported a strong Q2 FY27 performance, with consolidated net profit rising 117% year-on-year to ₹88.9 crore from ₹40.9 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue increased 81.1% to ₹746 crore from ₹412 crore, reflecting strong business growth. Operating performance improved significantly. EBITDA surged to ₹122 crore from ₹31 crore a year ago, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 16.4% from 7.5%, an improvement of 890 basis points. This indicates that the company is translating a larger revenue base into stronger operating profitability. It operates across active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), pharmaceutical formulations and medical devices, including blood glucose monitoring products. Its growth opportunities include export expansion, complex API manufacturing and the scaling up of its contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) business. The CDMO segment is particularly important to monitor because larger commercial orders can improve capacity utilisation and create opportunities for operating leverage. However, sustainable growth will depend on timely order execution, customer demand, regulatory compliance and manufacturing efficiency. From a research perspective, the combination of 81% revenue growth and substantial margin expansion is encouraging. Investors should nevertheless examine whether these improvements are repeatable, particularly as business mix, input costs and capacity utilisation can influence quarterly profitability. Learning Takeaway: Rapid revenue growth becomes more valuable when accompanied by margin expansion and cash-flow generation. Investors should assess whether improved profitability is sustainable rather than relying on one strong quarter.
