Avenue Supermarts, the company behind the popular DMart retail chain, posted steady growth in the second quarter of FY27. Consolidated net profit rose 8.5% year-on-year to Rs 743 crore, up from Rs 685 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations climbed 17.8% to Rs 19,644 crore, compared with Rs 16,676 crore earlier.
EBITDA grew 14.7% to Rs 1,393 crore. However, margins came under mild pressure. The EBITDA margin slipped to 7.1% from 7.3%, while the net profit margin eased to 3.8% from 4.1%. The company attributed the margin dip mainly to higher entry-level wage costs.
On a standalone basis, which reflects the core brick-and-mortar business, revenue rose 18.4% to Rs 19,206 crore and net profit increased 7.6% to Rs 804 crore.
DMart continued its expansion drive, adding 15 new stores during the quarter and taking the total count to 518. Same-store sales growth for outlets older than two years improved to 9.5%, better than the 6.8% recorded a year ago.#StockInNews#WatchOutFor
