Paradeep Phosphates Q2 FY25 Results: Strong Revenue Growth & Strategic CapEx

PARADEEP
Analysis of the Q2 FY25 financial results for Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. (PPL). Key Financial Highlights (YoY) Consolidated Net Profit: Grew 34% to ₹341.94 crore (vs. ₹255.33 crore in Q2 FY24). Revenue from Operations: Increased 49% to ₹6,872 crore (vs. ₹4,619 crore in Q2 FY24). EBITDA: Rose 29.4% to ₹656.48 crore. Profit Before Tax (PBT): Stood at ₹468.5 crore, a strong rise from ₹336.5 crore. Performance Drivers & Margin Analysis The significant 49% surge in revenue is primarily attributed to two key factors: Volume Expansion: Higher sales volumes driven by the successful operational integration and synergies from the recent merger with Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCFL). Improved Realisations: Favourable pricing dynamics for its products during the quarter. While operational profit (EBITDA) grew substantially, the EBITDA margin saw a moderate contraction to 9.55% (from 10.98% YoY). This compression is reflective of industry-wide headwinds, specifically higher raw material and finance costs. Major Strategic Initiatives The Board has approved a substantial capital expenditure (CapEx) plan totaling ₹3,600 crore, signaling a strong focus on long-term value creation: ₹2,450 crore is allocated for a new integrated granulation plant at the Paradeep facility. ₹1,150 crore will be invested in a phosphoric and sulphuric acid plant at the Mangalore site. This strategic investment is designed to significantly enhance backward integration, reducing import dependence for key raw materials and strengthening supply chain resilience. Corporate Governance The company has reinforced its board with the notable appointments of Mr. Akshay Poddar as Vice Chairman and Ms. Ruchira Kamboj (India’s former Permanent Representative to the UN) as an Independent Director. Market Context Despite a minor 1.6% dip on November 6, the stock has delivered a strong 42% gain year-to-date (YTD), reflecting sustained investor confidence in the company's growth strategy.
