as Corporation Limited (NUVOCO) is in focus on October 23, the first session after it reported a 78% year-on-year rise in Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit to ₹64.79 crore, from ₹36.43 crore. The Nirma Group cement maker announced the results on the evening of October 22.
Revenue from operations grew 13.5% to ₹2,790 crore. EBITDA rose 11% to ₹411 crore. Sales volume reached 4.7 million tonnes, up 9%. The company also commissioned a new 2 MTPA grinding unit at Limla in Surat, adding capacity in Gujarat.
The company did well in a weak pricing market. Cement prices stayed muted across the industry, but Nuvoco protected profitability by selling more premium products. Volume growth of 9% and new capacity in a key western market support future growth.
The 78% headline needs context. Last year's base was low, and profit has fallen sharply from ₹159.63 crore in the June quarter, a decline of about 59% due to monsoon-season weakness. EBITDA grew slower than revenue, so the EBITDA margin slipped to about 14.7% from roughly 15.1% a year ago. Revenue also declined sequentially, and the company flagged higher logistics and input costs.
Investors should watch cement price trends after the monsoon, EBITDA per tonne, ramp-up of the new Surat capacity, and the share of premium products in total sales. The key question is whether Nuvoco can turn volume growth into margin expansion once demand picks up after the monsoon.
