Why Smallcaps Are Under Pressure Right Now?

Smallcaps are under pressure because the index is stuck below a major falling trendline and repeatedly facing resistance near 7,000–7,200, while momentum and demand remain weak on the charts. SEBI’s liquidity concerns, stretched valuations, and global uncertainties have also pushed investors toward large caps, slowing fresh inflows into the smallcap space. With many stocks not backing their earlier rallies with strong earnings, sentiment has turned cautious. A meaningful recovery will only begin once the index closes above 7,200 with strong volume; until then, smallcaps are likely to stay in a cooling, sideways-to-weak phase.
