Colgate-Palmolive Reports Strong Q2 Growth Amid Market Challenges, but Shares Drop
Colgate-Palmolive (India) reported a 16% rise in Q2 profit, reaching ₹395 crore, driven by strong demand for its core toothpaste brands like Colgate Maxfresh and Colgate Strong Teeth, and a double-digit growth in toothbrush sales. The launch of Colgate Visible White Purple and the focus on premium products using Dual Zinc and Arginine technology boosted performance. CEO Prabha Narasimhan highlighted continued investments in product quality and marketing. However, despite rural markets outperforming urban sales for the third consecutive quarter, Colgate's shares fell by more than 4% today, trading at ₹3,075 by 9:49 am. The stock dip reflects broader market challenges, though the company's solid growth should support its long-term outlook.
