KEC International wins ₹2,872 crore Power Grid orders
KEC International Limited has secured ₹2,872 crore in orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for 765 kV transmission line projects.
The contracts mark the largest-ever single order for its India transmission and distribution business.
The projects will support the evacuation of 8.5 GW of renewable energy from Gujarat. The order wins expand KEC International’s domestic T&D order book as India continues to invest in transmission infrastructure to accommodate rising power demand and renewable energy capacity.
With these contracts, the company’s year-to-date order intake has crossed ₹13,500 crore, including approximately ₹9,500 crore from its T&D business. This gives the company stronger order visibility, although execution timelines, margins and working capital requirements will determine how much of this order growth translates into earnings.
My view: The order size is a positive development for KEC International, particularly given the scale of its domestic T&D business. However, a large order book alone does not guarantee better profitability. Investors should track execution progress, operating margins and cash flow in the coming quarters. The stock has declined nearly 56% so far in 2026, indicating that the latest order win needs to be assessed alongside the company’s financial performance and broader market expectations.
KEC International closed around ₹327 on the NSE on October 23, down approximately 1.5% for the session. The next trigger is its upcoming quarterly performance, particularly whether revenue growth and margins improve alongside order inflows.
Stance: Positive on order visibility, but earnings execution and margin recovery need confirmation before taking a stronger view.
