NTPC Green Energy Q2 profit rises 56% to ₹137.5 crore
NTPC Green Energy Limited reported a 56.2% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹137.5 crore in Q2 FY27. Revenue from operations grew 53.2% to ₹938.2 crore, compared with ₹612.3 crore in Q2 FY26.
EBITDA increased 56.6% to ₹830 crore from ₹530 crore a year ago. EBITDA margin also improved to 88.4% from 86.5%, indicating strong operating profitability alongside revenue growth.
The results reflect higher business activity in renewable power generation. Revenue growth above 50%, combined with margin expansion, points to improved operating performance. However, the sustainability of this growth will depend on new capacity additions, project execution, power generation and the company's ability to maintain profitability as its operations expand.
My view: The financial performance is encouraging, but the share price tells a different story. The stock closed at ₹82.44 on the NSE on Friday, down 1.8% for the session. It has declined 11.8% over the past month and 13.5% in 2026 so far. This divergence between earnings growth and price performance warrants attention. Strong quarterly numbers alone are not enough to establish a trend reversal.
Going forward, I will watch whether the stock stabilises around current levels and whether subsequent quarters sustain revenue growth and margins. A recovery in price supported by continued earnings growth would strengthen the case for a more positive view.
My stance: Fundamentally encouraging results, but confirmation from price action and sustained execution is needed before turning bullish.
