RVNL Secures ₹295 Crore Railway Project Amid Mixed Financial Performance
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) recently received a ₹294.94 crore contract from South Central Railway for the doubling of the rail track between Navipet and Indalvai stations in Telangana. This Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project includes electrification and signaling work for the Mudkhed–Medchal line and is expected to be completed in 24 months. However, RVNL’s recent Q2 results showed a 27% YoY drop in net profit to ₹286.9 crore, primarily due to lower operating margins, and a slight revenue decline to ₹4,855 crore. Additionally, the company's EBITDA declined by 9%, with margins narrowing from 6% to 5.6%. In another development, RVNL and SCPL's joint venture was named the lowest bidder for an Eastern Railway project worth ₹837.67 crore, involving significant construction work between Kalipahari and Pradhankhuta, slated for completion in 36 months. RVNL shares closed at ₹416.20 on November 18, down 0.79% for the day and 11.66% over the past month, though they have gained 131.37% year-to-date. The recent contracts underscore RVNL's active role in major railway projects, yet its stock may face pressure from recent financial performance challenges.
