Can Fin Homes: profit rises 9.2%, but margins need attention
Can Fin Homes Ltd reported a 9.2% year-on-year increase in Q2 FY27 net profit to ₹274.61 crore.
Total income from operations rose 7.8% to ₹1,131.18 crore, while the loan book expanded to ₹43,539 crore.
The numbers show steady growth, but there are a few details investors should not overlook.
Net interest income increased 6.6% year-on-year to ₹432 crore. However, net interest margin declined to 3.89% from 4.02% in the previous quarter.
This matters because housing finance companies need to balance competitive lending rates with their cost of borrowing. If funding costs rise faster than lending yields, margins can come under pressure even when the loan book continues to grow.
Asset quality also deserves attention. Gross non-performing assets stood at 0.90%, compared with 0.87% in the previous quarter. The increase is modest, but the trend needs monitoring.
Here are the key factors I would track:
1. Loan growth: Can the company maintain healthy disbursements?
2. Margins:Will funding costs put further pressure on NIM?
3. Asset quality:Can the company keep bad loans under control?
4. Profitability:Will earnings growth accelerate as the loan book expands?
view: Can Fin Homes continues to deliver profit growth, but the combination of lower NIM and a slight rise in gross NPA deserves attention. The next few quarters will show whether growth can remain healthy without sacrificing lending quality.
For traders, the stock's reaction to the results and its ability to sustain above recent resistance levels will be more useful than the earnings headline alone.
