CDSL: Demat Account Growth Continues to Support Business
Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) has reported encouraging Q2 FY27 results, with growth across its key financial parameters.
The company reported consolidated net profit of approximately ₹173.9 crore, registering a 24% year-on-year increase. Consolidated revenue from operations grew around 23.7% to ₹394.5 crore compared with the corresponding quarter last year.
There are a few important developments worth tracking.
**1. Growing investor participation**
CDSL added approximately 75 lakh demat accounts during the quarter, reflecting continued participation in India's securities market.
**2. Improving operating performance**
EBITDA increased to approximately ₹229 crore, while EBITDA margins improved to around 58% from 56% a year ago.
**3. Assets under custody**
Assets under custody crossed ₹89 lakh crore, highlighting the expanding scale of its depository operations.
**4. What lies ahead?**
The sustainability of demat account additions, transaction volumes, market activity and operating margins will remain important factors for future performance.
**My observation**
CDSL benefits from the long-term development of India's capital markets. However, investors should remember that business growth and stock valuation are two different aspects of an investment decision.
The company's earnings trajectory, competitive position and valuation deserve equal attention before forming a view.
