Sensex, Nifty Gain; Adani Ports Up, Trent Down

Sensex open: It opened roughly flat against Wednesday’s close of 73,246.03. Kotak Neo had it up 3.04 points at 73,249.07, while Business Standard had it up 92 points at 73,337. Nifty open: The Nifty50 opened at about 22,703, up 4.35 points from its previous close of 22,698.85. Turned positive: Both indices started on a muted note and then turned green. Top gainer:

led the Nifty50, up 3.90% to ₹1,830. Other gainers: Power Grid (+3.54% to ₹260.30), Adani Enterprises (+3.11%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (+2.95%) and Hindustan Unilever (+2.54%) also gained. Top loser: Trent fell the most among the Nifty50’s top movers, down 2.07% to ₹2,853.60. Other losers: Bajaj Auto was down 0.84% to ₹10,397, with the Nifty Auto index down about 0.8%. Sectors: FMCG led, up about 1.4%, followed by media (+1%), PSU banks and IT (+0.76%), with Bank Nifty up 0.54%.
