Sensex, Nifty Rally 0.7%; Dr Reddy’s Soars

Sensex close: It ended at 73,606.75, up 482.92 points (0.66%), after opening lower. Nifty close: The Nifty50 closed at 22,753.20, up 153.20 points (0.68%), after an intraday low of 22,387.35. Streak: This snaps the four-day losing run, and the indices closed near their intraday highs. Top gainer: Dr Reddy’s Laboratories led the Nifty50, up 6.62% to ₹1,310.90 after its quarterly earnings beat profit expectations. Other gainers: JSW Steel (+6.28% to ₹1,260),

, Adani Ports and Eternal also gained. Top loser: Shriram Finance fell the most, down 4.62% to ₹825.00. Other losers: Tata Consumer Products, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Life and HDFC Bank were also among the weakest. Sectors: Nifty Metal led, up 2.2%, followed by Pharma, up nearly 2%. Broader market: The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1.19% and the Smallcap 100 rose 1.38%, outperforming the benchmarks.
