Sensex Opens 600 Points Higher; IndiGo Leads Gains

Sensex open: It opened up 595 points (0.79%) at 76,288.65, against Monday’s close of 75,692.78. Nifty open: The Nifty50 opened up 141 points (0.60%) at 23,582.25, against a close of 23,440.80. Early trade: By 9:29 AM the Sensex was at 76,397.72, up 704.94 points (0.93%), and the Nifty was up about 176 points, above 23,600. Streak: This is the fourth straight session of gains. Over the last two sessions the Sensex has added 1,938 points (2.6%) and the Nifty 565 points (2.45%). Top gainer: InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) led the Nifty50, up 2.95% to ₹5,064.80 from ₹4,919.90. Other gainers: Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank were also leading the early gains. Top loser:

was the top Nifty50 loser, down 1.78% to ₹230.64. Other losers: In the Sensex pack, Trent, BEL, Power Grid, Sun Pharma and NTPC were among the biggest losers. Drivers: Cooling crude oil, FII buying, steady US Treasury yields and strong earnings supported the open, even though Wall Street fell overnight (Nasdaq down 1.39%).
