reported a sharp 35% year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit to Rs 878 crore for the second quarter, falling short of street estimates. The bottom-line contraction was primarily driven by lower revenue from international segments, particularly weak performance in North America and the API business, alongside rising operational pressures.
Revenue from operations slipped 2.4% year-on-year to Rs 7,404 crore compared to Rs 7,589 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. This top-line decline also missed analyst expectations, accompanied by a significant contraction in the EBITDA margin to 18.7% from 25.0% a year ago due to broad margin pressures.
Despite the headwinds in overseas markets, the domestic business remained a key bright spot, achieving a record quarterly revenue of Rs 3,516 crore, marking a 12% growth year-on-year. While overall profitability took a hit, the company's EBITDA came in at Rs 1,388 crore, managing to slightly outperform market projections.#FundamentalViews#StockInNews
