SBI Funds Management Lists at 7% Premium; Amundi Sees IPO as Start of New Growth Phase
SBI Funds Management made a strong stock market debut on Tuesday, with its shares listing at around Rs 614, a premium of nearly 7% over the IPO issue price of Rs 574 per share. Speaking at the listing ceremony, Nicolas Calcoen, Deputy CEO of Amundi, said the public listing marks the beginning of a new growth phase for India's largest asset manager and reinforces confidence in the country's long-term investment story. Calcoen noted that the listing will enhance SBI Funds Management's visibility, broaden its investor base, and provide a stronger platform for future expansion as India's mutual fund industry continues to grow. Highlighting the country's structural growth drivers, he said the rapid adoption of digital investing, increasing participation through Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), and India's rising appeal to global investors position the asset manager for sustained long-term growth. He also underscored the success of the over two-decade partnership between State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi, attributing the joint venture's leadership to the complementary strengths of both partners. While SBI has contributed its trusted brand, extensive distribution network, and deep understanding of the domestic market, Amundi has provided global asset management expertise and international investment capabilities. Expressing confidence in the company's future, Calcoen said the successful listing would support SBI Funds Management as it enters its next phase of growth and continues to capitalize on the expanding opportunities in India's asset management industry.
