The Auto Boom Is Showing Up at the Port Before It Shows Up in Car Sales
One interesting Q1 signal is coming from $GPPL . Ro-Ro cargo jumped 54.8% YoY to 65,000 units, even as container volumes were broadly flat at 168,000 TEUs. Ro-Ro is largely vehicle movement, so the sharp increase points to stronger automotive export/import activity through the port. This is an interesting second-order indicator for India's auto ecosystem. If vehicle exports continue expanding, port infrastructure becomes a direct beneficiary without having to pick the winning OEM. Gujarat Pipavav Port, JSW Infrastructure and Adani Ports are worth tracking as India's automotive trade expands.
