GHCL reports 19% standalone net profit growth in Q2

GHCL Limited reported a standalone net profit after tax of ₹127 crore for the second quarter of financial year 2027 on October 31, 2026. Revenue from operations rose eleven percent year-on-year to reach ₹821 crore despite ongoing pricing pressure in the global soda ash market. The New Delhi-headquartered chemical major published its financial numbers for the period ending September 30, 2026. Standalone net profit grew 18.7 percent from ₹107 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. However, on a sequential quarter-on-quarter basis, profitability moderated from ₹191.18 crore registered in the June quarter due to typical monsoon seasonal softness. Operational execution metrics displayed resilience under structural cost-management programs. Standalone EBITDA increased sixteen percent year-on-year to ₹202 crore, up from ₹175 crore a year ago. Standalone operating margins expanded by 100 basis points year-on-year to settle at 24.7 percent. The company successfully initiated commercial production of vacuum salt utilizing waste heat during the quarter and went live with its new bromine facility after the close of the quarter. My reasoning focuses on the robust health of the balance sheet against near-term chemical cycle headwinds. The company maintains an almost debt-free framework, holding a net cash surplus of ₹1,072 crore against gross debt of just ₹49 crore. This buffer shields margins from heavy interest expenses, which stood at a minor ₹2 crore. While global soda ash oversupply keeps intermediate realizations soft, the low-cost manufacturing footprint and added value streams from bromine ensure defensive sustainability. Technical tracking shows the stock price stabilizing near its primary support floor after touching a new 52-week low last week. I am watching the execution progress of the additional ₹88.09 crore capital expenditure budget approved for the fiscal year.
