CDSL Q2 profit rises 24% as revenue grows 24%

Central Depository Services (India) Limited (NSE: CDSL) reported Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit of ₹173.3 crore, up 23.9% YoY. Revenue from operations increased 23.7% to ₹394.5 crore, reflecting continued growth in India's capital market infrastructure business. Key Highlights • Operating profit increased 28.6% YoY to ₹228.5 crore. • EBITDA margin improved to approximately 58% from 56% a year earlier. • Consolidated net profit increased from ₹139.9 crore to ₹173.3 crore. • Revenue grew from ₹318.9 crore to ₹394.5 crore. • CDSL's demat account base continued to expand, reflecting growing participation in Indian financial markets. My View CDSL delivered healthy growth across revenue, operating profit and net earnings. The most encouraging development is that operating profit grew faster than revenue, accompanied by a 200-basis-point improvement in EBITDA margin. This indicates that the company is benefiting from operating leverage as its business scales. However, CDSL's revenue is closely linked to capital market activity, transaction volumes and investor participation. Any prolonged slowdown in market activity could affect transaction-related income. I believe India's long-term financialisation story remains a structural growth opportunity for CDSL, although quarterly earnings may fluctuate with market conditions. What I'm Watching Next I will monitor demat account additions, transaction volumes, operating margins and revenue from issuer services. Sustained growth in the investor base alongside stable margins would strengthen the long-term earnings outlook. Stance: Positive on operating performance and India's growing capital market participation, but mindful of the company's sensitivity to market activity. Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
