Reliance Infrastructure named in CBI chargesheet

RELINFRA
Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RELINFRA) said on October 1, 2026 that it is named as an accused in the CBI's second chargesheet in the Reliance Home Finance Limited case. The case alleges diversion of ₹7,429.16 crore, and the stock was near ₹44 in late September, close to its 52-week low. What happened: The CBI filed the chargesheet in a Mumbai special court against 11 accused, including three Reliance ADA Group executives, seven companies and one auditor. The company said it will take legal steps to protect shareholders. It was also named in a separate chargesheet in the Reliance Commercial Finance matter on July 7, 2026. Why it matters: A chargesheet is an allegation, not a finding. But the stock is down about 82% in a year and market value is only about ₹1,850 crore. Each new case adds legal cost and makes lenders more careful. My view: The headline is already largely priced in. What the market cannot yet see is the size of any liability for the company itself, and the chargesheet does not state one. I would read the Q2 notes on contingent liabilities more closely than any news flow. The risk to a bearish view is that volumes are small, so the price can jump on non-legal news such as an asset sale. What I am watching: ₹44 support, near the late-September low. ₹57, the September 4 close, as resistance. Any ED attachment order, and contingent liability changes in Q2 FY27 results. Stance: Avoid. A close above ₹57 on higher volume would make me revisit. Disclosure: [SEBI RA name and registration no.] [Holding: I hold / do not hold a position in Reliance Infrastructure Limited.] Not investment advice.
