“Why Follow-Through Is Essential After a Strong Price Move”

A strong initial price movement can attract attention, but the movement itself does not guarantee continuation. After an expansion, traders should observe whether price continues to progress in the same direction or whether momentum begins to disappear. Follow-through can be seen when price continues making progress after the initial move, holds important levels, and attracts further participation. When price quickly stalls, returns toward the starting area, or repeatedly fails to extend, the original momentum may require closer evaluation. This becomes particularly important around breakouts. A move beyond resistance or support may initially appear convincing, but sustained acceptance of the new price area provides additional information. The market's reaction after the first move can therefore be more informative than the first candle itself. Learning: Do not evaluate momentum only by the size of the first move.
