HDFCBANK
k has reported its Q2 FY27 results, and the numbers show an interesting contrast.
India's largest private sector lender reported a 4.7% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹19,510 crore. Net interest income (NII) grew 9.7% to ₹34,620 crore.
But here's the detail worth watching.
The bank's loan book grew 16.3%, while deposits increased 18.8%. Gross NPAs also improved to 1.11%, compared with 1.24% a year ago. That's encouraging from an asset-quality perspective.
However, profit growth remained relatively modest.
Why? Other income declined 3.6%, mainly because treasury trading gains dropped sharply. Operating expenses and provisions also affected the bottom line.
Another important development is the leadership transition. Anup Bagchi took charge as MD and CEO on October 27, succeeding Sashidhar Jagdishan. His strategy for improving growth and profitability will be closely watched.
For me, the bigger story is whether HDFC Bank can convert its strong loan and deposit growth into better margins and faster earnings growth.
The next few quarters will be important for understanding that transition.#IndexStrategies#WatchOutFor#Today’sTradingSetup#StockInNews#Miscellaneous
