BHEL wins major Adani Power contracts worth ₹28,000 crore

BHEL has secured four major contracts from Adani Power, with a total estimated contract value of up to ₹28,000 crore. The contracts cover four thermal power projects, each with a capacity of 2×800 MW. The scope includes the supply of boilers, turbines, generators and associated services. Together, the four projects represent a combined capacity of 6,400 MW, making this a significant development for BHEL's thermal power equipment business. The contracts strengthen BHEL's order pipeline and provide potential long-term revenue visibility. They also support the company's position as a major domestic manufacturer of power generation equipment amid continued investment in India's thermal power infrastructure. From a fundamental perspective, large project wins can improve manufacturing capacity utilisation and support future revenue growth. However, the estimated contract value of up to ₹28,000 crore is not immediate revenue or profit. Actual profitability will depend on final contract terms, execution schedules, equipment costs, margins and payment milestones. My View: The four Adani Power contracts are a major positive development for BHEL. The combined 6,400 MW project capacity and potential contract value of ₹28,000 crore provide substantial business visibility. Successful execution and margin management will determine the actual earnings benefit. What to watch: Final contract value and execution schedule. Boiler, turbine and generator manufacturing progress. Order book growth and capacity utilisation. Operating margins and working-capital requirements. Stance: BHEL – HIGHLY POSITIVE (9/10)
