Seamec signs $55 million offshore vessel charter contract

SEAMECLTD
has signed a contract with HAL Offshore Limited for the charter hire of its vessel, SEAMEC ANANT, for Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) jobs for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The contract is valued at approximately US$55 million, excluding GST, with a charter hire period of around 1,225 days, subject to HAL Offshore’s agreement with ONGC. The multi-year engagement provides potential revenue visibility for Seamec through the deployment of its offshore vessel for oil and gas operations. IMR activities are important for maintaining offshore infrastructure and supporting operational reliability. The contract could strengthen Seamec’s presence in offshore marine services and improve utilisation of SEAMEC ANANT during the charter period. However, the agreement’s duration remains subject to the underlying arrangement between HAL Offshore and ONGC. Investors should monitor the commencement date, vessel deployment schedule, operating costs and contract execution. The announcement does not specify the expected profit margin or net earnings contribution. My View: The US$55 million contract is a strong positive for Seamec because of its sizeable value and long charter period. It can improve revenue visibility, although actual profitability will depend on vessel operating costs, utilisation and the final execution terms. What to watch: Contract commencement, confirmation of the underlying ONGC arrangement, vessel deployment, operating margins and revenue recognition over the charter period. Stance: SEAMEC – HIGHLY POSITIVE (9/10)
