Kwality Wall’s (India) Ltd (KWIL) Begins Independent Journey Post-Demerger from HUL
Kwality Wall’s (India) Ltd (KWIL), the demerged ice cream arm of Hindustan Unilever, officially commenced independent operations following the NCLT-approved demerger effective December 1, 2025, with a record date of December 5, 2025. Shareholders received one KWIL share for every HUL share held, marking a landmark corporate restructuring in India’s FMCG sector.
The newly listed entity owns iconic brands like Kwality Wall’s, Cornetto, and Magnum, contributing ₹1,783 crore (3% of HUL’s FY25 turnover) and operating within a high-growth segment poised to benefit from rising consumption and formalization.
Post-demerger, The Magnum Ice Cream Company — Unilever’s global ice cream unit — holds 61.9% of KWIL, ensuring continued strategic alignment and innovation support. The standalone structure allows KWIL to pursue focused growth, dedicated capital allocation, and agile decision-making.
Listed on stock exchanges in Q4 FY26 (by March 2026), KWIL is expected to attract investor interest as one of India’s few pure-play listed ice cream companies. With strong brand equity, R&D backing, and increasing demand for premium frozen desserts, KWIL is well-positioned to scale.
For HUL, the move sharpens focus on core FMCG segments, while shareholders gain direct exposure to an asset-light, high-potential consumer business riding India’s evolving taste economy. The demerger unlocks value and sets the stage for both entities to grow independently.
