Ola Electric Begins Mass Delivery of S1 Pro with Indigenous 4680 Cells; Aggarwal Increases Share Pledge
Ola Electric has launched mass deliveries of its S1 Pro (5.2kWh) scooter, powered by the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs, becoming the first Indian EV maker to achieve full in-house cell and pack manufacturing. The scooter offers a 320 km range and accelerates from 0–40 kmph in 2.1 seconds, marking a major leap in India’s EV self-reliance.
This milestone underscores Ola’s push toward technological independence, reducing reliance on imported batteries and strengthening its position at the forefront of India’s electric mobility revolution.
However, challenges loom on the financial front. Founder Bhavish Aggarwal has increased his pledged stake to 10.11% (13.38 crore shares) from 8.09%, pledging them with Aditya Birla Capital as collateral for a loan to fund a group entity. His total holding remains at 30.02%.
Since its August 2024 listing, Ola’s stock has fallen over 43%, with revenue guidance slashed to ₹3,000–3,200 crore for FY26—nearly one-third lower than earlier estimates. The company approved a ₹1,500 crore equity raise to strengthen its balance sheet amid total debt obligations of ₹2,114 crore by FY30.
While product innovation advances, rising share pledges and weakening financials signal near-term headwinds, warranting close investor scrutiny.
